※Miyako Island, at the center of the Miyako Islands, is home to Okinawa Prefectural Miyako Hospital, which is a regional base hospital, the Aeon Town Miyako Minami Shopping Center (housing a supermarket, appliance retailers, 100 yen shops, bank ATMs, and so on). which is where you will find most everyday necessities, and many restaurants, Japanese-style pubs, general shops, convenience stores, and more.

An everlasting summer paradise where you can swim from March to October

Generally speaking, a water temperature of 23 degrees Celsius or higher is considered suitable for swimming for adults and 25 or higher for children.
In the Kanto region, the average water temperature is around 26 degrees Celsius, even in summer, when the water temperature is highest.

By contrast, the tropical waters of the Miyako Islands have an average water temperature of 24 degrees or higher from April to December, and depending on the temperature and sunshine that day, you can bathe in the ocean even in winter.
※The infinity pool and hot tub at Ronsard Resort Irabu are heated, so you can use them even during the colder seasons when the ocean temperature is low.

During the off-season, you can wear a wetsuit and enjoy diving, snorkeling, marine activities such as SUP, jet skiing, parasailing, and more, in addition to visiting scenic spots and golf.

However, one point of caution is typhoons from August to September.
Since there is nothing to block it, intense wind and rain that exceeds a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 40m can occur, and the ocean becomes turbulent. Flights may also be cancelled, so be sure to check the weather forecast during the typhoon season.

Also note that it rains often on Miyako Island throughout the year.
However, even during the rainy season, there are few days where it rains all day long. Most rain constitutes localized rain showers called squalls. Only when a large rain cloud is positioned above the area will there be a lot of rainfall in a short period of time, and as the clouds part, they give way to a clear sky again.
